Website Development in practice
Overview

Website Development

A website is usually the first serious look a prospect gets at your business. If it is slow, dated or unclear about what you offer, that prospect moves on to the next search result. We build sites that explain the offer clearly, make the next step obvious and hold up under real traffic.

Our work covers new builds, redesigns, e-commerce stores, booking and membership sites, landing pages for campaigns, and ongoing maintenance and hosting. Each project starts with the business goal rather than a template.

This service suits owners and marketing managers who want a site they can measure and maintain, and who would rather have a direct conversation about scope than pick from a fixed package.

What’s included

Scoped to your business, not a template.

Every engagement starts with your customers, your sales process and your systems. The scope below is what we draw from. The proposal defines what you need.

  • Discovery and site planning

We map the pages, audiences and actions before any design starts, so the structure reflects how customers actually buy from you.

  • Conversion-focused design

Layouts are built around the enquiry, booking or purchase you want, with clear calls to action on every key page.

  • Content and copy support

We help structure and write page content so the site reads clearly and answers the questions customers ask before they call.

  • Development and testing

Sites are built on a modern, maintainable stack and tested across devices, browsers and connection speeds.

  • Search and performance foundations

Technical SEO, page speed, accessibility basics and analytics are set up as part of the build rather than added later.

  • Integrations

Forms, CRM, booking tools, payment gateways and email platforms are connected so enquiries land where your team works.

  • Training and handover

Your team learns how to edit pages, add content and read the analytics before we hand the site over.

  • Hosting and maintenance

Managed hosting, backups, software updates and security monitoring are available as an ongoing arrangement.

How we work

A clear path from first conversation to results.

Timelines depend on scope and are confirmed in your proposal. Nothing is promised that the plan cannot support.

  1. 01

    Discovery

We review your current site, analytics, competitors and customer questions, then agree the goals and page structure.

  2. 02

    Design

Wireframes first, then visual design, reviewed with you at each stage so there are no surprises at build.

  3. 03

    Build

Development, content loading and integrations, with a staging site you can test as pages come together.

  4. 04

    Launch

Technical checks, redirects, analytics and Search Console setup, then a controlled go-live.

  5. 05

    Support

Post-launch monitoring, fixes and an optional maintenance plan so the site stays secure and current.

Across industries

How this differs by sector

A trades business needs a site that gets the phone ringing from a mobile search. A medical practice needs clear service information, booking links and content that respects advertising rules. A manufacturer needs product detail, specification downloads and distributor enquiries. A not-for-profit needs donation flows and volunteer sign-up. We plan the structure around how each sector's customers research and decide, rather than reusing one layout across all of them.

Common questions

Answers before you enquire.

How long does a website project take?

It depends on the number of pages, the amount of new content and how quickly feedback comes back. A small business site is usually a matter of weeks; larger builds with integrations take longer. We set out a timeline in the proposal and update it as the project moves.

Can you work with our existing site or does it need a full rebuild?

We review what you have first. Sometimes a redesign on the existing platform is the right call; sometimes the platform itself is the problem. We recommend the option that fits your goals and budget, and we are clear about why.

Which platform do you build on?

We choose the platform based on what the site needs to do, who will edit it and what it needs to connect to. We work with modern content management systems and custom builds, and we explain the trade-offs before you commit.

Do you write the content?

We can. Many clients provide the raw material and we structure and edit it; others ask us to write from a brief. Either way, the content plan is agreed at the start so it does not hold up the build.

What does a website cost?

Every site is scoped individually. After a discovery call we confirm the scope, inclusions and timeline in a tailored proposal so you know exactly what you are getting.

Who owns the website once it is finished?

You do. Domain, hosting account, content and design files are set up in your name or handed over at launch.
